Getting the encoding right
Mailto links break easily: an ampersand, question mark or line break in the subject or message has to be encoded, or the email arrives cut off. The generator encodes everything correctly, including accented letters, and uses the line-break format email apps expect.

What is a mailto link?

How do I add line breaks to the body?
Just type them in the message box. The generator converts them to the correct %0D%0A code automatically.
Why doesn't the link do anything for some visitors?
Mailto links open the device's default email app. People who only use webmail without setting a default app may see nothing happen, so show the email address as text too.
Is there a length limit?
Keep links under about 2,000 characters. Some browsers and email apps cut off longer ones.
Can I add an attachment to a mailto link?
No. Mailto links can't attach files; link to the file in the message instead.
Can I send to several people?
Yes. Separate addresses with commas in the To, Cc or Bcc boxes.
