BIMI Logo Checker

BIMI puts your company logo next to your emails in Gmail, Yahoo and Apple Mail. Check that your logo file meets BIMI's strict format, fix the common problems in one click, and check that your domain is set up for it.

What you need for a BIMI logo

  1. DMARC at enforcement. Your domain's DMARC policy must be p=quarantine or p=reject, applied to all mail. A p=none policy doesn't qualify. The DMARC generator builds the record.
  2. A logo in SVG Tiny PS format. A special, locked-down kind of SVG: square, with a title, and no scripts, animation, outside links or embedded photos. This page checks all of that and fixes most of it.
  3. The logo on your website at an https address, for example https://yourcompany.com/bimi/logo.svg.
  4. A BIMI record in your DNS: a TXT record named default._bimi pointing to the logo.
  5. A mark certificate (VMC or CMC) for Gmail and Apple Mail. It's a paid certificate from companies like DigiCert or Sectigo that proves the logo is yours. Yahoo can show your logo without one.

The BIMI DNS record

Add a TXT record with the name default._bimi and this value, using your own logo address:

v=BIMI1; l=https://yourcompany.com/bimi/logo.svg; a=https://yourcompany.com/bimi/certificate.pem

Leave a= empty (a=;) until you have a mark certificate.

Designing a logo that looks good in BIMI

Inboxes show BIMI logos small and cropped to a circle, sometimes on a dark background. Use a simple mark or monogram rather than a wide wordmark, keep it centred with some space around the edges, and give it a solid background colour so it doesn't vanish in dark mode. What is BIMI?

Brand Indicators for Message Identification. It lets email providers like Gmail, Yahoo and Apple Mail show your company logo next to your emails, once your domain is protected by DMARC.

What is SVG Tiny PS?

A strict, simplified version of the SVG image format required for BIMI logos. It must be square, include a title, and contain no scripts, animation, external links or embedded photos.

Do I need a VMC certificate for BIMI?

For Gmail and Apple Mail, yes: they require a paid mark certificate (VMC, or CMC for Gmail). Yahoo can show a BIMI logo without one if your domain has a good sending reputation.

Why isn't my BIMI logo showing in Gmail?

The usual reasons: no mark certificate, DMARC still at p=none or below 100%, the SVG isn't in Tiny PS format, or the logo URL isn't reachable over https. This page checks the logo, the BIMI record and DMARC.

Can I convert a PNG logo to BIMI SVG here?

No. A BIMI logo must be drawn as vector shapes. An SVG that just wraps a PNG or JPG inside isn't allowed. Ask your designer to export the original vector logo as SVG, then fix it here.

Is my logo uploaded?

No. The logo is checked in your browser. The domain check only looks up your public DNS records.
