How to get a free email address with your own domain

If you already own a domain, you can get email on it for free. Each free option has a catch, so pick the one that fits how you will use it.

Quick answer

Three ways: Zoho Mail Forever Free (not offered in every region) gives up to 5 real mailboxes (5 GB each) on one domain, used through Zoho's web and apps. Cloudflare Email Routing forwards mail sent to your domain into an inbox you already have, for free, but does not give you a mailbox to send from. Or pay a dollar or two a month for your registrar's email.

Free tool: test your domain's records with the MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC checker.

Option 1: Zoho Mail Forever Free

Option 2: Free forwarding with Cloudflare Email Routing

Option 3: Low-cost registrar email

If you need to send properly from your domain in any email app, a cheap paid mailbox is the simplest answer:

ProviderPrice
Spaceship Spacemailfrom about $0.79 a month (billed every 2 years), 30-day free trial
Namecheap Private Emailabout $14.88 a year for 1 mailbox (first-year discounts are common)

For a full business setup with calendars and shared files, see how to make a business email.

Prices and limits were checked on each provider's site in October 2026.

Do not skip SPF, DKIM and DMARC

Whatever you choose, add the SPF and DKIM records your provider gives you, plus a DMARC record. Without them, your mail is far more likely to land in spam, and Gmail requires them from bulk senders.

Questions people ask

Can I use Gmail with my own domain for free?
You can forward your domain's mail into free Gmail, but sending as your domain from free Gmail is fiddly and may hurt delivery. Google Workspace is the paid, proper way.
Do I need a website to have domain email?
No. You only need the domain.
